Calistoga Elementary School Named A National Blue Ribbon School

About the Calistoga Joint Unified School District

The Calistoga Joint Unified School District serves approximately 850 students from Calistoga and the surrounding area.  The Calistoga public schools provide a rigorous, standards-based instructional program that also embraces and encourages higher level thinking, problem solving, student engagement and creativity.  Small class sizes, ample resources and individualized attention insure that our students are provided with a broad-based educational experience and that each feels a connection to school and to our community.

The District schools enjoy strong support from the community and each year the Calistoga Education Foundation, Calistoga Wildcat Boosters, Calistoga Music and Arts Boosters as well as many local service organizations provide additional funding for a multitude of educational “extras” that enrich the learning experience for all students. We are proud that Calistoga Junior/Senior High School has been honored with the California Distinguished School designation.

Strategic Goals 2008-2013

Strategic goals are broad statements regarding how our district will realize its mission. Our strategic goals establish the district's priorities for deploying our energy and our resources and identify the issues to be addressed to close the gap from where the District is today to where it wants to be in five years. The five strategic goals identified by the CJUSD Strategic Planning Team and adopted by the Board of Trustees are:

GOAL 1 :ENSURE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE FOR ALL STUDENTS
All of our students will meet or exceed established state standards of performance. The instructional program will provide a responsive and challenging education for every student.

GOAL 2: PROVIDE A SAFE, HEALTHY AND POSITIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
We will create a positive school environment in which students are safe, empowered to take an active role in the school and community and support healthy life choices for themselves and others.

GOAL 3: ENHANCE COMMUNICATION
We will enhance communication among students, parents, teachers and the local and global community.

GOAL 4: DEVELOP A POSITIVE AND UNIFIED SCHOOL COMMUNITY CULTURE
We will develop a positive and unified school community culture which embraces and celebrates our multi-cultural richness.

GOAL 5: MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE FACILITIES
We will maintain, improve and provide facilities with an emphasis on the use of social and environmentally conscious practices.
